2014 was a great year for lots of ideas for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) learning, especially for kids and young adults. Check out some of our favorites from our STEAM section below!

Fun Palaces at Parkes Shire Library – coming to us all the way from Australia, a pop-up “laboratory of fun” at rural libraries that would offer family-friendly activities to explore science and art.

The S.T.E.A.M.punks Club – LAIP team member Laura talks about the monthly program she facilitates at the Eager Free Public Library in Evansville, Wisconsin.

Show Me STEAM – LAIP contributor Amy Koester of the Show Me Librarian put together a fantastic series of program ideas that dig into a variety of elements of STEM/STEAM learning.

Program Kits by Heidi Gustad – LAIP contributor Heidi Gustad of Hands Occupied brought us a slew of fun hands-on activities for tweens and young adults that blend art and science.

Library Makers – We pulled a fantastic resource out of the archives and we’re bringing it back now! Library Makers, written by Carissa Christner, is packed with all sorts of STEAM-supportive activities and projects for the younger set, from toddlers to school-age kids.
