Another week, another amazing roundup of links. Enjoy, and have a great weekend!
New features:
- The new installment of our series on The Labs @CLP pushes a digital makerspace to be real with social issues and the lives of its teens.
- We loved our visit to the Corning Museum of Glass, and we’re happy to share how they’re embracing the library-museum connection with artists. All our favorite things!
- Mel Kolstad, one of our first featured artists, walked us through her altered books project called “Homage to Libraries”. Try it out!
- Tim Youd is a performance artist who has taken on the task of retyping 100 novels on the same typewriter model and in the same general location from whence they came. Wild!
Other news:
- We’re huge fans of the Glasgow School of Art Library, and we mourned when it was devastated by a fire. Kate Kosturski wrote an update for INALJ, which we wanted to share with our readers.
Fun stuff:
- Buzzfeed nails it with this list of 14 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Librarians.
- OMG, is that Yoda in a 14th century manuscript?? Amazing.
- Library of Congress launched a new online collection of recorded poetry and literature readings! (This was in last week’s Linkubator, but people are still very excited!)
- A new tool for instant data visualization? Oooo…
- Rescued artifacts from the 300-year old Mosul Museum, ransacked by ISIS, will be recreated with 3D printing. Take that, terrorists!
- In love with these paintings by an artist with synesthesia who paints what she hears in music.
