It’s been a happening week for the Incubator! Some really dynamite features, a trip to an IMLS conference, and an article in School Library Journal – all very exciting! Plus tons of awesome links from the web. Enjoy!
New features:
- Check out this in-depth interview & coverage of the special collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Thomas J. Watson Library. We’re in love!
- “Libraries preserve past conversations in anticipation of future creations.” Learn more about the Cycle of Creativity at the Corning Museum of Glass.
- Poetry at the Wonder Wheel of Coney Island – yes, you read that right. This Parachute Literary Arts program looks amazing!
- LAIP contributor Melissa Kolstad shows us her work curating art exhibits at Fond du Lac Public Library, this one about teen power.
- We wrote an article on crafting in the library for School Library Journal! And you can read it here!
- Laura was a panelist at an IMLS Focus conference, talking participatory learning in libraries and thoroughly enjoying Kansas City!
- Kelly Hiser and Rabble got a nice write-up from our alma mater, UW-Madison. Way to go, Kelly!
- Everybody loved this great library quote from Albert Einstein. Anybody know if it’s accurate? I don’t quite have time to be a detective right now, but proper attribution is important!
- There’s a fashion library in Amsterdam where you can check out and return clothes. I, for one, think this would be super useful. And like a book library, you can always decide to purchase things you like.
- Google Releases Chrome Extension for the Color-Blind. Woohoo!
- Oh mama – a new online archive of composer John Cage just came out. Explore away!
- Dumfries and Galloway Library and Archive Service in south west Scotland put a bunch of photos online as well, for those who want a glimpse of Scottish history.
- April C. Armstrong at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library talks about how & why they use Tumblr.
- 53 library books beautifully faded by the sun & other books. Can’t stop admiring this image.
- I am beyond charmed that there’s a Mini Paper Pavilion Club in Vancouver that meets to create scale models of real and imaginary buildings. Just browse the pictures – you’ll thank me.
